Race Day Bookings

Race days in Cartmel are always a fantastic atmosphere — but with thousands of visitors in the village, things can get a little more full throttle than usual! All dining bookings are seated in our separate restaurant area, away from the main bar. However, if the Cumbrian weather decides not to play nicely, racegoers may head indoors and the pub as a whole can become extremely lively. For safety reasons, drinks in the bar and outdoor areas may be served in plastic cups on race days, although we’ll continue serving restaurant diners with glassware wherever possible. We’ll do everything we can to keep service running smoothly, and we thank you in advance for your patience, good humour, and understanding while the village is racing at full gallop.
Deposit
We do not require any payment upfront, however we do require a card on file which will be only be charged at £10pp in the event of a no-show or last minute cancellation.
Large Parties & Pre-Orders
For bookings of 8 or more people, we require a pre-order to be completed and submitted no later than 48 hours before your booking. For Sunday bookings, please ensure it has been submitted by 4pm on Thursday.

For prams and wheelchair accessibility please ensure you read the area descriptions and fill out the special requests form when booking.

For any special requirements, please ensure you fill out the special requests form and we will do our best to assist.
Allergens **
Whilst we offer meals with gluten free and dairy free ingredients and accommodate allergens where we can, we do operate a small, shared kitchen and whilst we take numerous precautionary measures to prevent cross contamination, we cannot be certain that any product is 100% trace free. Birthdays and Special Events
We would love to welcome you for your special celebration. Please mention the names of the birthday guests or guests celebrating in the special requests box so we can do something a little special for them. We’re happy for you to bring your own cake for a celebration. A £2 per person “cake-age” fee applies for anyone eating cake instead of a dessert. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare plates, cutlery, and napkins for you.
